Nasturtium leaves are small to medium in size and are round and broad in shape, averaging 5-15 centimeters in diameter. Nasturtium leaves are tender with a slightly sweet, green, tangy, and peppery taste. The richer the soil the plants are grown in, the more pungent the leaves and stems will taste.
Both the leaves and petals of the nasturtium plant are packed with nutrition, containing high levels of vitamin C.
Gently wash and dry the flowers and leaves and use immediately or store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. Although you can eat the whole flower, if the flavor is too strong use only the milder-tasting petals. You can also use nasturtiums in stir-fries, cook them with pasta, and stuff the flowers.
